2007 WSOP blog
06/30/07 - Well it was over
almost as soon as it began. I was knocked out of the tournament on
the only pot I played after the flop.
I had called a couple small bets in
earlier hands and then folded after being raised by others in the
hands but on the hand I git knocked out on, I played it right and
was beaten on the river.
I had pocket Aces and was in fifth
position. The blinds were 100/200 and I raised to 600. everyone
folded but the big blind who called the rest of my 600 bet. The
flop was 368 rainbow, the big blind checked. By the way, this guy
was the aggressor at the table so I thought I had an opportunity
to win this hand. I bet 600 again after his check, he had about
4000 in chips, I had about 2500when the hand started (started with
3000). He came over the top and went all in, I called of course
and flipped over my Aces, he flipped his card over to show 6-8, I
had him dead and was about to double up. The turn came a 7, no
harm. Guess you know one of two cards that came next. Yep, a 6
fell, he made trips, and that was all she wrote. Pack my little
bag up and head for the slots.
I wish I could have stayed in but I
think I played it well and would win 9 out of ten times on that
hand so I can not be too upset.
I am going to find a couple of
small tournaments over the next few days to try and redeem
myself.
06/26/07 5:00PM CST
My flight gets in around 10:30AM on
Saturday the 30th. The tournament starts at Noon the same day.
Cutting it close I know. I also have to ( read want to ) go by
In-n-Out Burger to get my pre-game meal. I will just have enough
time to drop my bags off at the front bell desk and get back to
the poker room at the back of the Rio Casino.
I am staying at he Rio this time to
conserve on my travel time. I am not a big fan of the slots there
but at least I will be able to go up and down to my room with
ease.
The tournament that I am playing in
is Event 49, the $1500 No-Limit Hold'em game. It is a 3-day event.
I have decided that the 9 days I spent in Vegas for the World
Series last year was a bit too long. I still get to have my fun
and play in a "Bracelet" event so I am happy with that.
If I win ( good luck I know ) I
plan on entering the main event. My wife is hoping that I come in
second place.
I will keep you updated throughout
the trip.
